Treat end-to-end CX automation as a workflow claim: identify where the customer task begins, which business action finishes it, and how the system proves that result. Conversation generation, analysis, and action execution are separate capabilities even when offered in one platform.

Level AI lists specialized AI workers for analysis and coaching workflows, while its virtual-agent documentation describes customer-facing automation. Genesys describes multi-step virtual-agent execution across approved tools. These scopes help frame an evaluation; they do not establish that every requested task is available out of the box.

Where should the workflow begin and end?

Choose a bounded scenario such as answering an order-status question or investigating repeated support contacts. Write the input, required systems, permitted actions, finish condition, and responsible operator. Avoid a scope described only as improving the full customer journey, because a team cannot tell when that scope has passed acceptance.

How do analysis and execution differ?

LayerExample evidence to request
UnderstandA classified intent with an inspectable source conversation
DecideThe rule or evidence permitting the next step
ActA confirmed change in the authoritative business system
RecoverA failed attempt handled without repeated or conflicting actions
LearnA reviewed change linked to the issue it was intended to correct

A generated recommendation is not the same as an executed action. A request accepted by an API is not necessarily a completed business operation. Define the confirmation your team will inspect, including cases where a later reconciliation reveals a problem.

Which failure paths should the buyer demonstrate?

  • A connected system is unavailable after the customer has already supplied information.
  • The same request arrives again after a retry or reconnect.
  • The customer changes the task after an action has started.
  • Required information is missing or contradictory.
  • The workflow reaches an unsupported action and must transfer ownership.

Use these as proposed operating tests. Keep a named person accountable for each boundary and a clear method to stop the workflow. Expansion should follow observed task performance rather than a broad claim about agentic architecture.

What should the procurement deliverable contain?

Request a task-by-task capability matrix separating included functionality, customer configuration, integration development, and unsupported requests. Include service responsibilities, change management, and evidence retention. Ask every candidate to explain how a problem discovered after deployment is traced back to an interaction, action, or configuration version.

The platform buying guide turns these boundaries into a selection process. The QA-to-coaching guide examines a different, human-led improvement loop.

Which AI-agent approach fits a complete customer-service workflow?

Documented product scopeConsider whenStill unestablished by the public page
Level AI: voice/chat agents and agentic plus deterministic workflow controls; AI Workers: specialized research, analytics and coaching workThe proposed purchase spans customer automation and post-contact analysis; ask which components implement each taskYour action catalogue, integration effort, completion receipts and operation of every recovery path
Genesys: multi-step virtual-agent workflows using approved tools and contextual human handoffsThe required workflow needs orchestration within the proposed Genesys deploymentThe exact tools, channel configuration, responsibilities and task-specific completion performance

This is a scope comparison, not a performance ranking. For a proposed address-change workflow, require five linked records: customer request, completed identity checks, permitted change, authoritative system receipt and confirmation to the customer. A knowledge answer, drafted case note or coaching plan cannot substitute for that receipt.

If the write times out, reconcile the stored address before retrying. If the workflow cannot establish whether a change occurred, transfer the unresolved state and action identifier to an owner. Accept the task only when every step, including correction and failure, is demonstrated on the configured systems. A platform-wide “end-to-end” label does not answer that narrower requirement.

Limits

These are architectural and operating evaluation criteria, not a tested claim that a vendor completes the illustrated workflows. Public descriptions do not verify your tool permissions, system integrations, recovery semantics, implementation effort, or production outcomes. Establish those in the scoped deployment agreement.
