Choose a voice-of-the-customer platform by whether it can connect a recurring customer problem to inspectable conversations and an accountable owner. A useful chart should help a team decide what to change, then show whether the problem recurs after that change.
Level AI describes conversation and survey insights with topic and intent analysis. Qualtrics describes multichannel feedback analysis and workflows for responding to recurring issues. These documented approaches belong on a shortlist; neither description establishes the quality of your eventual findings.
What does voice of the customer mean in a contact center?
Voice of the customer, or VoC, is a process for collecting customer evidence, interpreting needs, and assigning action. In a contact center, evidence may include calls, messages, surveys, and contact reasons. A sentiment dashboard is one input to that process. It does not by itself explain the root cause of a repeated issue.
Which workflow should a buyer compare?
| Documented starting point | Evidence to request in a pilot |
|---|---|
| Level AI: interaction and survey insights | Trace an emerging topic to source conversations and separate overlapping intents. |
| Qualtrics: multichannel feedback and follow-up workflows | Trace a recurring feedback theme to an assigned action and its outcome. |
Give both candidates the same anonymized examples and the same definitions of a useful result. Compare what an analyst can verify, not how persuasive the generated summary sounds.
How can a team test topic discovery?
- Prepare examples spanning normal volume, a known service incident, and ambiguous customer language.
- Ask analysts to define the issue and its exclusions before seeing generated themes.
- Check representative matches and false positives, then inspect conversations the system missed.
- Split results by channel, product, and contact reason so a changing mix cannot masquerade as improvement.
- Assign one theme to an operational owner and record the planned intervention and review date.
A small theme with a clear remedy can be more useful than the largest cluster. Conversely, several similar labels may describe the same underlying issue. Require merge, rename, and exclusion decisions to remain understandable to the team maintaining the program.
What should the operating handoff contain?
For each finding, record a plain-language description, affected population, representative evidence, uncertainty, owner, and proposed next step. Keep survey responses distinguishable from inferred conversation signals. They describe different populations and should not silently share one denominator.
How does this relate to sentiment and CX metrics?
Use the sentiment and intent guide to evaluate the classification layer. Use the CX measurement guide to decide whether a change affects the customer outcome you intended to improve.
Which VoC platform fits the problem you need to investigate?
| Conditional shortlist | Documented basis | Purchase condition |
|---|---|---|
| Consider Level AI when the question begins with contact-center conversations and inferred experience signals | Its VoC page describes interaction/survey insights and topic/intent analysis | Verify traceable examples, source coverage and separation of inferred scores from submitted feedback |
| Consider Qualtrics when the question spans customer feedback channels and follow-up actions | Its VoC page describes multichannel feedback themes and action workflows | Verify required contact-center inputs, export detail and ownership handoff in the proposed deployment |
These are conditional recommendations from documented scope, not tested superiority. A team prioritizing conversation investigation should still test its follow-up workflow; a team prioritizing feedback collection should still test whether conversations are represented accurately.
Ask each candidate to produce the same deliverable: a bounded issue definition, source examples, false positives, affected-population denominator, proposed owner and an export the analyst can inspect. In an illustrative delivery-delay theme, distinguish missing tracking events from confusing status wording before proposing an action. Compare completion of this deliverable, implementation dependencies and unresolved gaps rather than dashboard appearance. If neither candidate supplies the necessary evidence, narrow the scope or keep the analysis manual until the gap is resolved.
Limits
This guide compares public workflow descriptions and proposes an evaluation method. It does not establish vendor accuracy, complete source coverage, implementation duration, or a causal effect on retention or satisfaction. Confirm supported channels, export fields, access controls, and commercial terms directly for the intended deployment.
